RIP Michael Jackson, Entertainer and Inventor

by danni 6/30/2009 6:10:00 AM

Good Morning Inventors!

I just learned this morning (courtesy of Digg.com) that Michael Jackson was an inventor. He designed a special pair of shoes for one of his videos that enabled himself and his dancers to lean at a 45 degree angle.  Check it out! There's a "You Tube" video below that shows this move in concert....

Michael Jackson patented a gadget to perform dance magic

This goes to show you that anyone can invent something. Just like the old advice about writing 'start with what you know'. Then get a patent, and develop a prototype, and get help marketing your invention to retailers.

Could anyone really sleep that hard?

by danni 6/26/2009 11:18:00 AM
Check out this video. This kid named his invention "The world's biggest alarm clock". Aside from this joke of a rodeo ride, I can't get up in the morning either. I'm always falling back asleep. I'm sure one of you clever inventors could make a real invention from this and create something that would shake the bed gently with a nice voice that says "Good Morning Danni...It's time to wake up...." every five minutes until I get out of bed. The off switch would have to be across the room, so I couldn't turn it off and go back to sleep... You wouldn't even have to pay me for this idea, just send me the first working prototype

Game Advances

by danni 6/24/2009 6:39:00 AM

Hey all,

I'm returning to one of my two favorite subjects, gaming and robots. I was reading this morning about Nintendo being in development for games that require no controllers whatsoever. Players body movements will be registered as interacting with the game playing on the screen. This technology reminds me of "Total Recall" where Sharon Stone was playing tennis with a hologram, and the hologram was correcting the form of her serve. (Anybody remember that movie...?)

With the new Nintendo technology, if a ball flys at you, you kick and the ball reacts. I'm sure they have to refine the accuracy and sensitivity to human movements. I could see a lot of educational applications for this too, like nursing training, surgery, etc. (make your mistakes on the game, not on people!)

Hey, if anybody wants to steal that idea, I'm giving it away. You'd better patent it first though. If you make big bucks, remember your friend Danni...

I couldn't find a pic of Sharon playing tennis but here's other images from Total Recall:

The Genius

by danni 6/19/2009 10:17:00 AM

OK, Now that you've had a good laugh from my previous post. Here's a serious invention.

It's a digital tape measure! Fabulous! Before you math geeks roll your eyes at me, remember that inventing items for the masses means inventing things that make life easier for the public - people not as great at math as you are. This little baby even records measurements for you so you don't have to take notes (frees up a builders hands not carrying pencil and paper). This sells for about $25 online.

Every so often, a brand new idea knocks my socks off, but like I've said before it's these types of improvements on existing products that really sell. Plus, I think it's easier to market and sell these improvements to retailers than an untested idea.  If you do want to go way outside the box, start with a virtual prototype to help others see your vision.

Have an awesome weekend!  Danni.

The Genius and The Ridiculous

by danni 6/19/2009 10:08:00 AM

Happy Friday My Bloggers and Inventors:

Since it's Friday and I'm in a party mood, I thought I'd show you two inventions today...one genius, one ridiculous.  Let's start with the ridiculous (trust me, you're gonna want to watch the video).

Poop Freeze (video: http://www.asotv.info/swf/ASOTVIPlayer.aspx?n=89)

The funniest part to me (in addition to the guy touching the poop with his hands) is the fact that they offer a tote to carry the Poop Freeze and they suggest using it to carry your bottled water next to their product (yeah right! after the video shows turning the poop over with the spray can). GROSS!

Where no man has gone before....

by danni 6/16/2009 8:58:00 AM

Does your Thumb Drive dispense delicious tart candy?

il_fullxfull72540099 No? Maybe that's because this Pez dispenser goes where no Pez dispenser has gone before... This cool little invention marries needed technology with pop culture appeal. Just a suggestion guys and gals when you're putting those invention thoughts to paper. It's not just about the idea, but also the design and appeal. While you're busy brainstorming, here's a few jokes for you...

Kirk: Spock, I…can’t…get…the…candy…in the dispenser.

Spock: It would appear the logical thing to do is pull on the cranium until the space for the candy is revealed, and then insert the sugary treats then.

Bones: Dang it, Jim, I’m a doctor, not a candyman!

Scotty: Captain, I cannot work miracles! I can’t hold the head open and put in the candy at the same time!

If you're a real trekkie, you'll want this limited edition PEZ set of the whole crew from Amazon

Bike Accessories

by danni 6/12/2009 11:29:00 AM

As we go green, more accessories are coming out to make alternative transportation cool... Here are cool light accessories for your bike from Monkey Electric.

pimp wheels.jpg    Just a hint guys, your invention ideas should tie into upcoming trends so you're poised to "ride the next wave". Like I said in earlier blogs, green inventions are superhot, and alternative transporation accessories and solutions will be money-makers for a long time to come. Get a patent first to protect your idea! Have fun!  Danni...

Flying Cars are on the horizon...

by danni 6/9/2009 5:13:00 AM

Ahhh memories... yellow footy pajamas, a bowl of peanut butter Captain Crunch and re-runs of The Jetsons. Flying cars are coming out of cartoons and are in development....

A Terrafugia Transition flying car on display July 28 at an airshow in Oshkosh, Wis., with its wings in a half-folded position. Its projected price is $194,000.  (this one looks like a bug with wings)

This USA TODAY article talks about failures and successes in flying cars, including one small company that has a working prototype and is taking orders at $175,000 each. Persoanlly, I'd like to see more day-to-day use of solar and wind powered everyday products to beat the stinking gas prices which jumped more than 40 cents per gallon in the last 3 weeks. If someone could build a viable airborne personal vehicle than ran on alternative fuel or electricity that would be so hot.

If you're looking to protect and promote your invention idea, here are a few resources:

Just think girls, one of these days, we could have a night out in a flying car and cruise to Paris...(sigh).....

Banana Safety?

by danni 6/5/2009 8:46:00 AM

Hello again bloggers and inventers. Welcome to the new saver products including the banana saver. These little items (under $5) are having mass "a peal" (I'm too funny). At first glance, I wanted to laugh my head off, but these little babies are racking up big sales numbers. Another example of simple, low-cost ideas that rake in a lot of dough. Don't overlook your invention ideas large or small...keep working on them!

You can find these at: http://www.organize.com. (is it just me or does the avocado look like a Birkenstock? wait, Birkenstocks are uglier...).

More Robot News...

by danni 6/2/2009 5:14:00 AM
this will kill you.jpg Those adorable Japanese have done it again!  This is ROBOTOPS a new construction robot with cranes for arms. it can be remote operated to go into dangerous situations to save human life. Can you imagine how cool it was to work on the design and development of this bad boy? They need to pair this up with the robot mobile ambulance I featured a few weeks ago to save lives after natural disasters such as the massive earthquakes, hurricanes, etc. that bury people under buildings for days when the concrete and steel cannot be moved fast enough.
