Green is Cool!

by danni 3/31/2009 11:15:00 AM

My inventor friends:

In an effort to keep you up to date on inventions past and present, I welcome to the first solar-powered robot lawnmower. This is really cool for the environment. The Auto-Mower will be available for $3,100 and can cut up to a quarter of an acre, on a 10 hour solar charge. If you have an invention idea…pursue it! Especially anything "green" is totally hot right now and I see no end to it. Start with a virtual prototype it's a really inexpensive way to get started.

I've been bad!

by danni 3/27/2009 5:18:00 AM

How did I miss black history month in February? I must have been too focused on Valentine's Day (no diamonds this year). African-American inventors helped build this country from the Michael C Harney's 1884 invention of the lantern to the present (1999 Patricia Bath's invention of laser surgery apparatus). A lot of focus is paid to today's exciting technological inventions, but we wouldn't be where we are today with the iPhone, mobile networking, and robotic science without indoor toilets, clean running water, vaccines, and the first telephone.

80-90% of today's inventions today are improvements on products that already exist.  People just figure out how to do it better, smarter, smaller, and hopefully cheaper. I was surprised myself to see the huge group of unsung African American heroes that helped make our lives better today. Hats off to my inventor friends out there in blog land that are working to make tomorrow better through new inventions. Have a great weekend...

Hairless phone calls?

by danni 3/24/2009 9:04:00 AM

Here's an app that even Apple hasn't thought of... the cell phone with electric shaver.  OK girls, is this the next "player" must have or the emergency device for when we kick our boyfriends/husbands out of the house.... I'm going to suggest this as the official product for VH1's "Tool Academy"

I believe that there is about a half-hour of shaving time on this guy, and about 2-3 hours worth of calling time (220-260 hours on standby). It also has dual SIM card slots, an FM radio, as well as other standard phone features. Clearly, having a shaver on a phone is very much a non-standard feature. However, I haven’t heard how the user changes the blades out, or anything. Wouldn’t the hair get on the cell phone? Also, if the phone vibrates, is that because someone is calling you or did you leave the shaver on?  If you want to try this out, feel free to shell out about $112 for it. However, you should probably need to be in China to use it.

If this $*(^#^! product can be sold to a billion people, why not your idea

Watch out for phony invention companies

by danni 3/17/2009 11:06:00 AM

My friends,

I always try to bring you the latest and greatest invention news and help my inventor friends find the right tools and resources.  I believe in the American dream and turning a bright idea into big bucks; especially for apps that will make life easier and better for the masses.  I just heard today that there are invention companies getting sued for misrepresenting claims and ripping inventors off.  Don't fall for it!  Your ideas are worth protecting.

Look for a company that has physical offices (even if you deal with them over the phone) and will partner with you to make your invention a reality.  Check out http://www.inventionresource.com/. These guys are the real deal.

Robots Gone Wild

by danni 3/13/2009 10:00:00 AM

Hey bloggers, anti-sexual harassment training is about to go to a whole other level....  Watch this hilarious video from Canada...

If you have a great idea but not the money to build it (at least not until you get a wad from corporate sponsors),consider a virtual prototype. Then you can show the finished product to corporate fat cats who can't visualize....

Robot Surgeons

by danni 3/10/2009 9:59:00 AM
Hey bloggers and tech fans!  Life imitates art (science) once again.

A company named SRI International is developing what they call a "Trauma Pod" where robot surgeons in a mobile pod will provide life-saving medical procedures to injured soldiers until they can be transported to a hospital for more extensive care.

The robots are still operating on dummies.  I wonder who is going to be the first (gulp) ‘volunteer’.

Frustrated in the 'burbs'

by tekboy_001 3/10/2009 9:47:00 AM

Danni, you're a geek's best friend.  I need some advice.  I've had this great idea since high school for a rock guitar product.  (Yes...my garage band days).  I'm not going to give it away online (not that stupid...).  I just got laid off from a c##p job and while I'm waiting for the unemployment check, I started thinking about that again.  What a cool idea it is and that it will really sell.  What can a guy like me do to sell this thing?  My brother with the business degree says I need to "pitch it".  I don't know anybody.  Hell, I don't even own a suit.  What should I do...?

I'm baaaaaaack!

by danni 3/5/2009 8:47:00 AM

Guess What Bloggers!?! The %#*^@! economy put a kink in my plans to escape the rat race... well, fellow rodents we'll have to stick together to come up with that hot multi-million dollar idea so we can retire rich.  In the meantime, I still haven't found the right man...(no Chris Brown's thank you!).  If Prince Charming doesn't come along soon I just might build him myself. You can be sure he'll keep the seat down and take out the trash!

Kenji, a third-generation humanoid, was programmed by Toshiba's Akimu Robotic Research Institute to emulate human emotions, including love. But shockingly, Kenji has gone haywire and will probably end up killing off all his love interests.

"The trouble all started when a young female intern began to spend several hours each day with Kenji, testing his systems and loading new software routines. When it came time to leave one evening, however, Kenji refused to let her out of his lab enclosure and used his bulky mechanical body to block her exit and hug her repeatedly. The intern was only able to escape after she had frantically phoned two senior staff members to come and temporarily de-activate Kenji."

Just goes to show you even robots can be stalkers.  Did I already date this guy...?

Here's a little bonus for my gamers: cheats for ROCKSTAR 2  Until next blog...Danni
